Bob Gordon Elderberry plants are vigorous and productive. The shrub usually reaches a height of 8 feet. However, this cultivar can be cut to the ground after dormancy and fruit can be harvested in the following year on primocane (new growth) stems. The fruit of the Bob Gordon Elderberry is sweeter and larger than other cultivars . Yields are high, and plants appear to have some resistance to Japanese Beetles. They grow best in zones 4-8.
